Friday: FLIGHT/CITY TOUR/INDIAN MARKET:

Fly from Johannesburg to Durban. Your guide will pick you up at the airport and give an orientation tour of Durban which offers a subtropical carnival atmosphere of endless summer, effervescent ocean lined with golden beaches. Drive along the marine Parade, see the Rickshaw pullers and the Durban Harbor. View the Vasco de Gama Clock, Dick King’s Statue, the sugar terminal, University of Natal and visit the Botanical Gardens. At the Indian Market, have time to bargain for souvenirs or feast your eyes on the colorful spices. Make a final stop at the Workshop, an outstanding shopping experience. Overnight in Durban. (B)

Saturday: ZULULAND/SHAKELAND-NANDI EXPERIENCE:

Travel along the North Coast road, towards the subtropical coast and bushveld of Kwa-Zulu, the traditional home of the Zulus, the largest black group in South Africa. Over 3 million Zulus live here under the leadership of Chief Mangosuthu Buthelezi, one of South Africa’s best known politicians. Visit Shakaland and see the traditional dance styles, visual demonstrations, social system and learn about the history and culture of the Zulu people. Return to Durban. Overnight in Durban. (B)
